CONCORD, CA, Aug. 4, 2011 – Solar mounting manufacturer Quick Mount PV announced that it has purchased a 133,000 sq. ft. property in Walnut Creek, CA and plans to move all company operations into its new facility mid first quarter 2012.
Quick Mount PV designs, engineers, manufactures and markets waterproof rooftop mounting systems for residential and commercial solar installations. The company has grown at greater than 100 percent annually since it was founded in 2006.
The new Walnut Creek facility will be the company's third home. Having outgrown its original shop in Emeryville, CA, the company moved in 2008 to its present space in Concord, CA. After expanding from 5,000 to 30,000 SF in three years, the company needs more space again to meet escalating demand for its products.
Quick Mount PV CEO Claudia Wentworth says the company will occupy the larger 90,000 SF building and sublease a separate 43,000 SF office and R&D building at the front of the property. "This is an ideal place for our low-tech light manufacturing facility and fits into our five-year growth plan," said Wentworth. "We have enough space to not only expand significantly in the months and years ahead, but to do so in a planned, intelligent way that will enhance our competitiveness and facilitate growth."
Wentworth said the $7.5 million purchase was accomplished with the aid of a loan from the Small Business Administration (SBA). "The SBA's mission is to provide America's entrepreneurs the tools they need to grow their business and create jobs," said SBA Regional Administrator Elizabeth Echols. "Through the use of an SBA 504 loan to purchase this property, Quick Mount PV is a perfect example of how SBA is fulfilling its mission."Wentworth said the $7.5 million purchase was accomplished with the aid of a loan from the Small Business Administration (SBA). Quick Mount PV expects to hire 20 new personnel in the months ahead, increasing again the current number of employees. "With additional pressures to manufacture overseas, Quick Mount PV is determined to create jobs for American workers and build a strong green manufacturing economy by continuing to produce its product line in the USA" said Wentworth.
"We are proud to produce American jobs in green manufacturing," Wentworth added. "Our next efforts will be towards 'greening' the larger older building through energy efficiencies and demand-side management. This will not only decrease our manufacturing costs but also the building's carbon footprint."
"Quick Mount PV's investment in this property signals their commitment to a cleaner, more innovative, energy efficient future," said Echols.
Wentworth hopes their move into the Shadelands Business Park in Walnut Creek will lead to other green companies joining them. "We have a vision of a green campus in the Shadelands. We'd love to lease the front building to a like-minded company," Wentworth added. "The building is beautifully designed. It would be great to put the labs to use with some sort of biofuels or cleantech company."
